Numbers 16:46-48 NKJV
46 So Moses said to Aaron, “Take a censer and put fire in it from the altar, put incense on it, and take it quickly to the congregation and make [a]atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from the Lord. The plague has begun.” 47 Then Aaron took it as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and already the plague had begun among the people. So he put in the incense and made atonement for the people. 48 And he stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped.
Analysis
Covid-19 is not the first Plague that mankind has experienced. We can look to the Bible for guidance on how to stop it.
The priesthood was responsible for burning the incense in the temple (Luke 1:9). There were two altars in the plan of the tabernacle (Lev. 16:12-13). The alter on the outside was the burnt offering of sacrifice. The alter on the inside is the alter of incense. It is upon the altar of incense in the heavenly temple that the prayers are offered (Ex. 30:1; Luke 1:11).
Jesus gave his life to restore our relationship with God (Mathew 27:51). Christians are now the royal priests who have access to God through Jesus Christ (1 Perter 2:9). The incense is symbolic of rising prayers (Revelation 5:8, 8:3).
Aaron is showing us what we must do. He placed his intercession (prayers) between the living and the dead and made atonement for all of them. As a result of this sweet smelling incense of prayer, the plague was stopped.
Who among you will raise your prayers between the living and the dead as a sweet smelling incense to God to stop Covid-19?
Prayer
In the name of Jesus, we offer prayer from the alter of incense as we stand against Covid-19 between the living and the dead. We ask for forgiveness of everyone’s sins and ask that you wash us clean with the blood of Jesus.
For those who are sick, by his stripes we are healed. For those who are asymptomatic, we cleanse them of disease by prayer. For the health care workers, we pray the whole Armor of God upon you to keep you safe and healthy. For those who have passed away, we pray for their souls and look forward to seeing them in heaven.
We pray for all the countries and people of the world and mention China at this time. We loosen all the prayers of the world to rise as sweet incense to the Lord Jesus to ask that the Covid-19 pandemic stop.
